How to Object to a Telegraph Pole

If you are concerned about telegraph poles being installed in your area, it is crucial to take action before they go up. Once a pole is installed, formal objections can only be raised under specific conditions, making early action even more important.

Take Action Before Installation

The best way to prevent telegraph poles is to object before they are installed. You can use resources available under the Take Action section of our site to help raise your concerns with Giggle Fibre and your local MP, and raise awareness in your community.

Objecting After Installation

If a pole has already been installed, you may still be able to object under the Electronic Communications Code. However, objections are limited to specific grounds:

How to Submit an Objection

Once installed, you can object by submitting a written notice with your name, address, and reasons for objection. Send your objection to:

Why Early Action Matters

Preventing poles before they go up is far more effective than trying to remove them later. Once installed, objections have limited power.

How to Complain About Telegraph Pole Installations Under Section 110 of the Communications Act 2003

If a broadband provider has failed to give the required 28-day notice before installing a telegraph pole, it is important to follow the correct complaint process. Ofcom is responsible for enforcing the 2003 Regulations under Section 110 of the Communications Act 2003.

Contact the Broadband Provider or Local Planning Authority (LPA)

Before escalating the complaint, you should first raise the issue with the broadband provider responsible for the pole installation. If the issue relates to planning conditions, you should also contact your Local Planning Authority (LPA).

Submit a Complaint to Ofcom

If your complaint is not resolved, you can escalate it to Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator, which enforces compliance with the 2003 Regulations under Section 110 of the Communications Act 2003.

To submit a complaint to Ofcom, use their official complaint form:
