Re: Objection to Telegraph Pole Installation in Garforth by Giggle Fibre

I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding Giggle Fibre's plans to install telegraph poles throughout Garforth for their broadband rollout.

As your constituent, I am deeply worried about this development for several reasons:

1. The previous provider, Spring Fibre, had agreed to underground installation following community consultation. Giggle Fibre's current plans represent a significant step backwards for our community.

2. The installation of telegraph poles would have a lasting negative impact on our street scene and property values. This is particularly concerning given that we are in 2025, not 1955, and modern infrastructure should be underground.

3. The current permitted development rights are allowing telecommunications companies to bypass proper local planning scrutiny, leading to uncontrolled proliferation of unnecessary infrastructure.

I understand there is currently a parliamentary petition (No. 700333) calling for the removal of permitted development rights for telecoms infrastructure. I would urge you to support this initiative and raise this matter in Parliament.

I also request your support in:
- Calling for an immediate moratorium on telegraph pole installation in Garforth
- Facilitating a public meeting between residents, Giggle Fibre, and yourself
- Pushing for a commitment to underground installation, as previously agreed with Spring Fibre

Our community needs your support to ensure that any broadband infrastructure improvements are implemented in a way that respects our environment and maintains the character of our area.
