Answers to the questions residents ask most often. If yours is not here, get in touch or post on the community forum.

Will Giggle Fibre install a pole outside my property?

We have asked Giggle Fibre for details of all planned telegraph pole sites in Garforth; to date they have not provided this. However, they have confirmed that each resident can email Giggle Fibre directly to see if a telegraph pole is going to be located near their property.

Send your name and address to enquiries@gigglefibre.co.uk.

Please note that Giggle Fibre will not respond to location requests without address details.

Will Giggle Fibre connect to my property?

Giggle Fibre are not an internet service provider (ISP), and as such will not be the company attaching fibre to your property. If you're speaking to an ISP such as Sky or TalkTalk about getting broadband, ask if they use telegraph poles to provide the service.

It is important to decline installation of any service that is supplied over a telegraph pole; without customers using the service, there's no incentive to keep building more above-ground infrastructure.

Isn't the Government already making changes?

In early February, the government announced plans to introduce new codes of practice to address the growing number of complaints about broadband pole installations.

Telecoms Minister Sir Chris Bryant stated that broadband providers will be required to “pay greater attention to the communities’ concerns.” It remains to be seen how these changes will be implemented in practice, but this could be an important step in ensuring residents have a greater say in how telecom infrastructure is rolled out — including here in Garforth.
